During a ceremony held at site of Talcher Fertilizers Ltd.’s (TFL) coal gasification based ammonia/urea production unit at PO Vikrampur, TFL handed over the responsibility of safety and security of its upcoming project to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). TFL was represented by its Managing Director, Sh. Sachchidanand Yadav and CISF was represented by DIG Mundali, Sh. Mamnon ur Rashid.
At the ceremony Sh. Rashid gave assurance to TFL that CISF shall protect the project from any untoward incident and pledged to take utmost care of man and machinery of TFL.
Sh. Yadav welcomed CISF in TFL and conveyed his satisfaction on induction of CISF to protect the Talcher unit. He reiterated that CISF is a premier security agency of the country and TFL is fortunate to have them at their project site. It was informed that TFL is Joint Venture Company promoted by Central PSUs of Govt., namely GAIL, CIL, RCF & FCIL and they have been mandated to implement the revival of erstwhile FCIL Talcher unit by GoI. At an estimated investment of INR 13,277 cr., TFL shall produce 12.7 Lakh MT of urea per year for which TFL shall use nearly 3.0 MMT of coal per annum.
He also explained that the technology being deployed in Talcher unit is being attempted first time in the country and TFL is harbinger of the larger dream of the GoI to use indigenous coal in a relatively environment friendly manner through gasification and produce a variety of chemicals. Pre project activities like site grading, construction water and construction power have been completed and TFL has awarded two major contracts of coal gasification and ammonia/urea to M/s Wuhuan Engg. Co. Ltd., China in Sept. 2019 at a cumulative cost of nearly INR 8000 cr. Physical work on the project has commenced at site and piling job has been completed.
The dignitaries were thereafter apprised that exclusive subsidy policy for urea produced by TFL has been approved by CCEA, chaired by Hon’ble PM of India in April 2021 and TFL has also secured loan of INR 9560 cr. to finance its project by a consortium of 09 lenders led by SBI.
At the end, Sh. Yadav conveyed his regards to CISF for deployment even during these COVID times and expressed his wishes to all the stakeholders at this momentous occasion.
